Who We Are |
Jean Richmond-Bowman: With over twenty years of holding leadership positions in nonprofit organizations, Jean Richmond-Bowman founded Northern Arizona FACES (formerly FASDNA-Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders of Northern Arizona) after she and her husband recognized that their adopted son had the disability. Resources were scarce and support almost nonexistent. It took a lot of determination and creativity to get there son the dignosis and services he needed. Richmond-Bowman decided that other families shouldn't have to do it alone and, together with Cindy Beckett, established the non-profit, with the mission to provide support and resources to those living or working with someone affected by FASD. She has presented seminars to audiences including parents, foster parents, juvenile court personnel, attorneys, teachers, counselors, medical personnel and other service providers, as well as helping individual families dealing with the disability in one or more of their children. Richmond-Bowman is a member of the Statewide Task Force for the Prevention of Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol and other Drugs. She holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Richmond-Bowman lives in Flagstaff, AZ, with her husband and two children. Our History |
Northern Arizona FACES was established (under the original name of FASDNA - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders-Northern Arizona) in 2009 to address the needs of those living or working with someone with FASD and/or other Neurobehavioral Disabilities. Finding resources lacking or nonexistent in northern Arizona, co-founder Jean Richmond-Bowman, who had just received an FASD diagnosis for her adopted son, reached out to long time advocate for the disabilities, Cindy Beckett, to fill the need. The organization was founded with the mission to ensure that no one affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder be without adequate resources and support until such time FASD has been completely prevented in Northern Arizona.
